Why Steam Cleaners Are Great
Steam is natural and thorough
Simple, biologically clean and environmentally friendly: steam cleaning is the most natural way of cleaning – and therefore the ideal alternative to conventional cleaning. It can be used in many different ways and, in addition to cleaning, steam can also be used for ironing and textile care. In this way, steam saves you valuable time, which you can use for other purposes. So what could be more natural than using the power of steam for small and large household tasks?
How steam cleaning makes our lives easier
Long before a person thought about cleanliness, water vapor was created on earth – in volcanoes and geysers. But it was not until after 1700 that the time was ripe for the practical use of steam. An extremely modern practical application of steam is steam cleaning.
It’s quite clear: cleaning with steam is cleaning without chemicals. The combination of steam power and temperature alone dissolves stubborn dirt and thus makes cleaning agents superfluous. This protects not only our livelihood, water, but also your household budget.
Steam cleaning also relieves nature and resources in other respects: For example, the disposal of the packaging material of cleaning agents is no longer necessary – which ultimately saves energy and raw materials.
In addition, water is extremely economical as cleaning with steam: one liter of normal tap water turns into around 1700 liters of steam! This is enough for about 20 minutes of steam cleaning – sufficient for the complete cleaning of a smaller apartment. And since electricity is only needed when heating up, its consumption is also kept within limits.
Why is cleaning with steam healthier?
Cleaning with steam protects yourself and your family. In contrast to cleaning solutions, steam condensate does not leave any potentially allergenic residues on the cleaned surface. This is particularly important for small children who like to put objects in their mouths. Accidents caused by the incorrect use of a cleaning agent, skin irritations or other health impairments caused by cleaning substances are no longer an issue with steam.
Allergy sufferers also breathe a sigh of relief. Since the steam binds dust and thus no allergens (house dust mites and their excretions) are whirled up, the room climate improves noticeably. And last but not least, the physical exertion when cleaning with steam is considerably lower – because you simply let the steam work for you.
Cleaning tile floors
For intermediate cleaning or after cleaning, please use a cloth which you fold up and tighten tightly in the floor nozzle. You can also use the microfibre cloth (optional accessory) for thorough cleaning. For floors, a steam mop for cleaning is a great solution.
Slide the nozzle back and forth quickly after releasing the steam, whereby you do not have to add steam permanently. In order to keep joints clean, you should not only move the nozzle across the joint but also diagonally to it.
Suction: We recommend vacuuming the floors before steam cleaning. Only work on laminate floors if you are sure that they have been professionally laid and glued.
Cleaning windows and mirrors
- Before using a steam cleaner for the first time, first carry out the basic cleaning: Rub the discs completely with a hand nozzle and steam cloth. Winter tip: If the windows are very cold, preheat them from a distance of about 5 cm.
- Then use the spot jet nozzle to evaporate the glass surface from top to bottom.
- Then use the puller to pull the “steam water” down in several lanes. To prevent streaking, wipe the rubber lip dry with a cloth from time to time.
- If there are still some residual water drops on the surface when removing with the rubber lip – no problem. You can wipe them off with the cloth easily and without streaks.
7 Tips to Make Cleaning Better
Cleaning is annoying and quite fun-free. But with a few simple tricks, the work is much easier for you. We’ll tell you what helps you to clean up.
Housework probably doesn’t really please many people. After all, it’s not particularly exciting, but rather exhausting and, above all, it never stops. Nevertheless, cleaning is a necessary evil. After all, who wants to live in a dirty apartment?
Our seven cleaning tips not only make your work more enjoyable, but they also do it almost by themselves.
Above in the video: With this trick, your garbage can never stink again!
1) Wipe out the beginnings!
When a centimeter thick fat crust has formed in the oven and the dust is thick as a thumb on the shelves, cleaning becomes a competitive sport. So don’t let it get that far in the first place! It’s better to wipe off the stove directly after cooking and briefly walk over the books with the feather duster. So you avoid annoying cleaning marathons in the long run.
2) Set your goals
If it’s necessary to clean properly, don’t do it all at once. This will only harm your motivation, the slumber will set in and the next time you will have even less desire to clean up. Set yourself small goals: today the windows in the bedroom, tomorrow the stove and on weekends the bathroom. This will keep your motivation high and you can be happy about small successes.
3) Put something on your ears
You don’t strain your head much when cleaning, it remains free for input. So that the time you spend with the rag is far less boring, keep your mind busy. Best of all acoustically. With an exciting audiobook, time flies by and the right song makes the mob your dance partner. By the way, headphones are perfect for toning out annoying vacuum cleaner noises.
4) Invest in a vacuum robot or steam cleaner
The small machines reliably relieve you of a lot of annoying work and do not cost much anymore. It’s just a nice feeling to come home after work and find a clean floor. It can also be extremely motivating to watch the guy at work. Before you know it, you stand by your robot friend. Another way to really get some fun out of your cleaning tasks is to use a steam cleaner or steam mop. Our blog is all about these, and we love them for their effective dirt removal and how much fun they are to use. Also, they get rid of bacteria due to their heat and make chemicals unnecessary.
5) Use the moment
There are numerous opportunities to combine everyday activities and cleaning work. For example, if you put your toilet brush in a mixture of water and detergent, your toilet will be much cleaner when you brush it. Or place the bath cleaner next to your shampoo. After showering everything is wet anyway. So why not just foam everything up and rinse it off? Lime stains in the shower are a thing of the past.
6) Consider it a sports program
Cleaning’s a hell of a lot of work. One hour of housework burns an average of 200 kilocalories. This corresponds to a moderate sports program. If you do the really exhausting things like snow shovels or heavy gardening, the number of calories consumed will be even higher. So if you clean regularly, you can simply save yourself the trip to the gym. Because that’s not always fun.
7) Reward yourself
When the apartment is clean and tidy, you deserve a reward. So treat yourself to a great meal or the dress you’ve been keeping an eye on for so long. But really only when all the work is done. That’s the only way self-education works.
